Ravelry Veg*n summer swap

So, I participated in this summer swap on Ravelry this past month, and I got my package today. My swap pal is from Sweden. It is always fun to exchange things with someone from another culture.
I received a ball of organic cotton in black, a pattern for a washcloth thoughtfully enclosed in a sleeve holder, a recipe for champagne sorbet, a frozen dessert scoop, two love birds, don't eat them stickers, some tea, a sailor/pirate key chain, some Anna's gingerbread cookies, and a mini heart silicone baking dish. Oh also a Swedish confection called polkagris which is peppermint flavored and soft sugary treat. Really quite addictive.
Thank you so much pollyanne for the lovely and thoughtful gifts. I love them all.

I also sent out a package. This was it. A few skeins of euroflax linen, a bag from herbivore that says veggies are dope, a pin from herbivore that says cow hugger, a journal that has a tea reading theme, a tin of iced tea bags in a pineapple mango variety, and a really awesome phoenix
necklace.
That's the fun of swapping.
Happy knitting, happy crafting.

Projects, yarn

Well, I am knitting sporadically at best. Summer as usual is just so busy. Visitors and just the general desire to get out when it is dry and the sun is out. However I do have some things on needles and I get to them from time to time. Definitely not getting them done in the time frame I had expected.
Ok first I have the clover lace wrap from Stich 'N Bitch Nation knitted in Rowan 4 ply cotton.
This is just about done, all knitting completed. I just have been having a hell of time getting the neckband on. I have pinned and seamed and ripped about 15 times, and am just over it for the moment. Don't really feel the need to finish it at the moment owing a bit to the weather as well, so it is sitting in the pile at the moment. This is the sweater.
Rowan 4 ply cotton was a nice yarn to knit with. It felt nice. I would consider it again for another project, although I don't think I would ever consider it again for another lace. It looked more like a jersey all knit up than what I wanted. I steam blocked all the pieces before seaming, and that didn't change anything. Maybe the first bath will change that.

Next project I am working on is sweet and seamless from Not Your Mama's Knitting. I can't find a good link to it, so I will post pictures once I get somewhere with it. It is a tight fitting short sleeve sweater. I am knitting it in black SWTC pure soysilk and putting in a cascading row of red stars in fair isle. I was just starting on the first round of stars and not liking it too much (ends and ends and ends) when I got this great idea to try from the knitting rose podcast. Basically it was to knit in short rows, (as a solution in knitting in the round). I love it. I am going to tear out the sweater back to before I started fair isle and start again with this method.
Pure is interesting. I really didn't like it at first, then loved it once I got a little fabric knit in stockinette I loved it. The fabric looks great, the yarn itches a bit. I am hoping it is dye and this will go away once I wash it. Will update on this sometime in the future.
Next is knit star scarf . This is getting the most attention from me right now as it is a gift, small and portable, and crazy easy. I am knitting it in knit picks shine worsted. I love this yarn. It is soft and smooth on my hands, knits fast, holds the same stitch definition that you would expect from cotton. This is my first attempt at double stranded knitting and it has been interesting. One thing that I might do different next time is not use a cotton for the next one of these I knit. The edges would look better on this if they blurred a bit. Otherwise I couldn't be happier and will definitely use this yarn again. Most likely for a sweater. Oh, and I will as I am knitting a hat in the same pattern for this same person.

And last but definitely not least is drawstring chemise. I am knitting this in Lout Euroflax Fine Sportweight . So far I have only done 20 rows of lace on the back. I haven't knitted much of it at all. I absolutely love it so far. The natural drape of Linen is giving the diamond lace a beautiful look. I really like knitting with this yarn as well. It feels crisp in my hands, but the waxy yarn moves very smoothly. I am knitting this on size 3 bamboo straight needles. This is working very well.

So, that's it for now. More knitting/ crafting talk to come. Happy crafting!

blog intentions

I am a crafty vegan, and always vegan, in all my crafts. Right now I am hella bent on knitting, so there is bound to be lots of talk of yarn and knitting and things of such mind. I really planned on doing a blog when I first started knitting because I had so many questions about knitting vegan, and yarn substitutions and things of that sort. So I will try to answer those sort of things here, as well as talk about WIP's *( works in progress) and UFO's ( unfinished objects) and show off the completed stuff and talk about what I am presently doing, as well as review my opinion of the yarns I am working with.
Well, that's it for now.
Happy knitting, happy crafting
